45-minute class designed for those who are new to the program, as well as those who have limited mobility or need assistance from a caregiver. Exercises as performed at a slower pace and consist of range of motion, strength, flexibility, postural stability, cognitive, and balance. Exercises are mostly performed from a chair. 60-minute class designed for those who have been exercising and have more mobility. Participants must be able to stand independently from a chair and walk independently or assisted by a walker or cane. Exercises consist of range of motion, strength, flexibility, postural stability, cognitive, balance, and gait. Instructor: Kris Cameron
This is a 60 minute, intermediate to advanced level class consisting of non-contact boxing using bags and mitts, as well as exercise drills. Must be able to stand and walk independently. Cardiovascular, strength exercises, cognitive exercises, and balance are included. FITNESS ASSESSMENT REQUIRED BEFORE STARTING THE CLASS. Instructor: Kris Cameron
60-minute dance/movement program for People with Parkinson’s Disease. Care partners are welcome to attend. Dance can improve balance, flexibility, range of motion, and overall improve your ability to accomplish your activities of daily living. The class utilizes technical elements from various dance styles including Jazz, Swing, Salsa, Waltz, Foxtrot, and Argentine Tango. Parkinsingers is a 45-minute vocal exercise group for those with Parkinson's. Caregivers are welcome to attend. There are MANY benefits to singing! These include: improving volume and clarity when speaking, strengthening muscles involved in swallowing and breathing, increasing mood, providing opportunities for self-expression, and of course having fun! Each class we begin with vocal warm ups and then sing through favorite songs. No previous singing experience required, and all are welcome! Yoga has been shown to improve overall health when practiced regularly. As with many forms of exercise, it can be modified for people of varying abilities. Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that can be done sitting on a chair or standing on the ground while using the chair for support. It is beneficial for people with limited mobility and for those who want to practice yoga at their workplace. Instructor: Patricia Vahanian, Certified Yoga Instructor
